TAG Heuer is a well known brand of luxury Swiss watches, particularly its high precision chronographs for sports use. It came into existence in 1860 when Edouard Heuer established a company. By 1882, this company had wide consumer base, providing dedicated service in terms of accurate chronographs and measuring instruments to its users. “The Oscillating Pinion”, another specimen of dedication and innovation of this company, is still being used as a critical component in most of the present day mechanical watches. By the first decade of the 20th century, TAG Heuer is already a major producer of Chronograph Control Boards for various aircrafts, which include several cutting edge features such as multi-speedometers, inbuilt on and off buttons, and various gauze and assessment meters. This system was patented under the name “Time of Trip”.
Other innovations of TAG Heuer include “micrograph”, an instrument with a least count of 0.01 seconds, and “semikrograph”, a chronograph with a least count of 0.02 seconds and with split time function. Both were highly acclaimed and found a lot of practical use.
In 1940s, TAG Heuer supplied the German Air force with “The Fliegar” chronographs with double registers and 30 minutes unit capacity. It also released the “Autavia” a popular high end sports watch series that is still in production today. TAG Heuer is the preferred dashboard provider of major automobile brands such as Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz.
